Customer Rating: Summary: Good Grip Comment: The texture on the inside part of the glove provides a very good grip on the racquet. Dont forget to dry it off after use, that will extend its life.
Customer Rating: Summary: favorite glove at any price Comment: Especially since these have been redesigned (the leather is now perforated, was previously smooth), the one weakspot of this glove has been remedied: durability.
The smooth leather version not only had a less tacky grip, but also did not last as long. When the old versions got sweaty, then dried out, they turned brittle. You then had to force your hand into a stiff, uncomfortable glove, and kind of "work it" until it was usable. This rebreaking-in process was horrible for the longevity of the gloves, and the leather would dry, crack, and get holes in it (plus just not be as grippy as when they were new). This new perforated leather dries differently, and the leather stays soft.
But these were my favorite gloves even before the upgrade, because of how they are put together- the spandex (? lycra? lol sorry I don't know fabrics) is GREAT, that part stretches to form fit to your hand, without sacrificing the tack of leather on the underside.
While there are some higher dollar gloves out there that are either all leather (so they might last a bit longer- the stretchy material is eventually what gives on these, generally at the seam to the leather), or have an even tackier grip, they are not as forgiving a fit, if your hand size is not exactly the shape of the glove mold.
OVerall these are better than gloves I have tried costing twice as much (though I've never spent over $20). And my "brand loyalty" is to Ektelon- I really TRIED to like one of their models better lol, but this glove is tough to beat.
