This means they are meant to cut meat. If you are looking for a knife to cut raw vegetables then this is not what you are looking for. You want a paring knife. They are a big improvement from the knives I used in the past. I read the reviews before I purchased them. Some people complained after putting them in the dishwasher. I do not put the knives in the dishwasher. I wash and dry them immediately after use. Customer Rating: Summary: What more could you ask for? Comment: What do you ask from a steak knife? It must cut. It must be easy to wash. This set of knives does both and at about thirty bucks! For the money you can't go wrong with these.
