Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Great shaver Comment: I've been a Norelco rotary user for years, and never considered a foil shaver. However, Comsumer Report rated this shaver highly. Considering that rating along with the low price convinced me to try the Remington. I am very satisfied; it gives a wonderful shave. It took me a while to get used to the hold down switch, but I can handle it now. Another nice thing is the ease of cleaning the shaver. Much simpler than for the rotary type. All in all, a great buy for me. Customer Rating: Summary: Good shaver Comment: I've used different Norelcos since the 60's and finally tired of the progressively higher costs and consistantly slow shaves. This Remington MS2-390 provides a quick close shave with little irritation if used with a light touch. It is somewhat noisier than my old Norelco rotary but not enough to be a purchase consideration. I like the rechargable/corded feature at this price point especially if I have forgotten to charge it. The long run time is really great. The on-off switch DOES stay on if fully pushed. As others point out the trimmer is just for sideburns. There was no instruction sheet with mine so I printed it from their web site. Quick shipping by Amazon as usual. Customer Rating: Summary: Good Shaver That Needs Improvement Comment: Having owned a Remington MS3-2700 for a few years, I recently purchased the recent version, the MS2-390, for my son's 18-year milestone. "Consumer Reports" gave this new one a "best buy" (they can't be right all the time). Both shavers are easy to hold, run for several days on a charge, and come with a case and cleaning brush. They give a good, close shave. The downside to the one I've owned before is that it requires screen replacement more often than one would expect. These replacements are needed when one feels irritation during and/or after shaving, and the user notices a small spot or spots where the screen is wearing away. It only takes these tiny open areas to cause a problem. The replacement screen costs around half the price of a new shaver, so in time the money involved can be substantial. If Remington could find a way to keep the screen deteriorating so soon, they would have a winner here. For now, rather than replace the screen again on my shaver, I have gone back to a safety razor and foam. It will be up to my son to do what he wants once his screen starts going bad. Customer Rating: Summary: Not so close shave Comment: About the only thing I like about this razor is the battery charge seems to hold up quite well. I don't have a heavy beard, and would expect a fairly close shave, but I am left with what feels like a five o'clock shadow. Probably sould have spent the extra bucks and bought a Braun.
