More killing of killers and bad people is what Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is all about. All the while, he has to live a "normal" life with his girlfriend, Rita (Julie Benz). But the introduction of a new seductress by the name of Lila (Jaime Murray) and the ever-present Sargeant Doakes (Erik King) will keep Dexter on his toes from the very first episode of the season. Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), Dexter's sarcastic, swearing, fellow-cop coworking sister will make anybody laugh. Dexter: Season 2 is well worth your time to watch, and is a worthy addition to anybody's DVD collection! Customer Rating: Summary: A Different Kind of CSI Comment: Color me stupid. I send all this money to my cable company for subscribing to Showtime, and I never watched Dexter until the first two seasons came out on DVD? What was I missing out on?...Only the absolute best show on TV. How good is it? Let's put it this way...I'm actually glad that I hadn't seen this until DVD, because my wife and I were able to watch the series in like two weeks versus like 12 weeks per regular season. I think that we even watched three episodes in one night. Alas, season 3 started this week, and now it's one episode of Dexter one week at a time. So certainly one of the good things about Dexter on DVD is that you don't need to wait 12 weeks to see a season from start to finish. But certainly the best thing about the series is how well done it is. Dexter (played by Michael C. Hall of HBO's Six Feet Under fame) is a blood spatter analyst with Miami Homicide. It's his job to help solve murders, and he also happens to moonlight as a serial killer....Just a side note that last part. The acting in the show is terrific, and the thrills and twists are plentiful. Combine the nature of Dexter's professional life with his favorite pass-time, and you can bet your carotid artery that there's plenty of blood in the show too. But rest assured that the show isn't just about killing. Relationships, family, the inner working of a homicide squad...all of this "stuff" is also packed neatly into the Dexter series and makes the show one of the best on TV that I've seen in a long long time. Add this bloody-good show to your cart. Season 1 is just as good as season 2, so I'd strongly urge newcomers to start from the beginning. Buy both seasons, and get your Tivo going on season 3! Season 2 is a great show -- full of plot elements beyond what you could expect from Season 1. Rita and her charm also becomes more apparent. I watched the entire series on DVD in 2 days, and that's saying something. We also start to see how sexy Michael C. Editorial Reviews: DEXTER is a crime drama about Dexter Morgan a man who leads a double life as an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Police Department and as an emotionless vigilante serial killer. Taught by his foster father to harness his lust for blood and killing Dexter lives by his own strict moral code - he only kills murderers who can't otherwise be brought to justice. Dexter is a killer who grapples with fitting into society while at the same time he struggles with his inability to feel emotion. The irony of Dexter's life is that he works closely as a blood splatter analyst with the very people who hunt his kind - the homicide department. Dexter's "Regular Joe" front is in full force while working alongside the ill-tempered Sgt. James Doakes who seems to be the only one to sense Dexter's more sinister side and Lt. Maria LaGuerta the head of the division who pursues Dexter sexually with as much force as she would any criminal. While his sister Debra Morgan a tough and determined cop leans on Dexter for personal advice and career advancement the closest one Dexter "connects" with is Det. Angel Batista whose similar attention to detail and taste for forensics almost mirrors his own. While sentiment and feelings elude Dexter he struggles to find a kindred spirit of sorts in his emotionally damaged girlfriend Rita who keeps him grounded in the realities of "normal" life and provides him respite from the dark corners of his mind.
