Customer Rating: Summary: Great Camcorder Comment: I got this camcorder so my husband would have something else to use instead of his camera phone for short little videos. I love how small it is and that it is so easy to use. When my 19 month old is doing something we don't want to miss you can very easily grab this and start filming immediately. I have not tried downloading any photos/videos to the computer. I am using the dvd-r for most of the video because there is no having to download it's right on the disk and I can pop it into my dvd player. I did buy the memorex dvd's and everytime you turn the camcorder on it tells you you should be using sony products. This is annoying. It is not uncommon for people to purchase other brand items if they are a little more reasonable in price. I also found that alot of the prices on amazon for batteries, dvds, memorysticks are much more reasonable that the stores in my area. And as stated in other reviews, the battery when charged only has like 60 minutes on it so a bigger battery is definately a must and than you would have a backup for those special moments when you realize your battery is dead. All in all a great product that I have been recommending to my friends and family.
Customer Rating: Summary: From camera to DVD player ! Comment: I'm proud of my purchase. Great camcorder for the price. It's easy to learn and use. I used it during my vacation and am so happy with the video quality. The only thing it doesn't have is the remote control; They said it's included but it's not. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Customer Rating: Summary: great little camcorder Comment: I purchased this camcorder for a vacation I just returned from. This is a GREAT camcorder. The learning curve is quick, very simple to use. Two options of recording video, either on a memory card, or via mini-DVD. The option of being able to pop out the mini-dvd and putting it into any DVD player is awesome. No computer necessary.
I had purchased 20 Memorex miniDVD+RW hoping/thinking they would work (via some other reviews on here), but they didn't--after formatting, "unsupported format" and no go. If there is a way to make them work, I'd love for someone to tell me how. So I ran out to Target and bought 5 of the Sony mini's which worked, of course flawlessly--but at 3 times the cost.
We just watched some playback of video and are floored by the absolutely perfect color of the outdoor shots. I'm really quite stunned at the quality.
In any case, if you are like me a month ago and searching for a camcorder to buy, I say buy this one. I would have been pleased at twice the price I paid.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Camera for the price Comment: I have used the Sony DVD610 for several weeks. The hybrid feature is nice and I tend to store directly to memory stick and keep a few disks with me for over flow. The 4 gig pro-duo memory stick holds about an hours worth of video. The 40x zoom is nice but is difficult to hold steady shots when fully zoomed. The picture could be better. I film my sons hockey games from the stands, when zoomed out you cant read the players names on the jerseys. I probably should have gone with the DVD710 model to get the more clear picture. Over all I am satisfied with the camera. It functions well with no odd problems.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Good Camcorder Comment: I Bought this Camcorder for My Girlfrend's Daughter. They live in the Philippines and are very happy to have this Camcorder. One thing I would suggest is that You get a Memory Stick along with the extra DVDs and don't forget the Battery charger and a Carrying case. It is really to bad You are not told up front everything that is needed for this Camcorder, but then they may scare a lot of buyers off. I think this is a Good little Camcorder.
