Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Great protection, mediocre clip Comment: I have been using the Speck Toughskin for a few weeks now, and I'm quite pleased with it. The skin is indeed tough, and it does a great job of cushioning and protecting the phone, as well as providing a good gripping surface. The belt clip adds a bit of bulk to the case, and I'm not completely confident in its durability. It is made from a thin and brittle plastic that seems like it would be prone to breaking. However, I do like how it securely cradles the phone and allows you the option of either facing the phone inward or outward. So far I haven't had any problems with it, but I am not expecting it to meet the lifespan of the skin. Overall I would definitely recommend this case to others despite the clip. It is relatively inexpensive and does a great job. Customer Rating: Summary: A Must Have! Comment: If your like me and are rough on your phones then this is a must have for your Iphone! Well constructed, solid rubber, it looks cool and really protects your phone. I've had no problems with it at all. The button extendors on the case work great! No more fumbling for your phone in your pocket and no more worries about dropping it! Customer Rating: Summary: Bad belt clip Comment: Broke the side prong of the belt clip due to the protruding prong grabbed my backpack pocket. I pulled the 3G in hurry and snapped the side prong. The case was good, heavy duty and heavy weight too! Drop couple times, no problem. With the prongs, can't put phone in pocket, too much poking. Customer Rating: Summary: Tough Skin = Tough Comment: This case is bulky and not easily concealable but being that the Apple 3G is uninsurable; the case does its job well! I, unlike most, use the belt clip but with many times of extracting or reinserting the phone to it; the bottom of the Tough Skin bows out where the rubber covers the home button. It only takes a second to readjust it so no big deal. The protection is still worth that small hassle. I've dropped it more than a few times already and no damage is visible, not even to the Tough Skin. The belt clip seems to help protect the screen as well. The clips provides greater distance if the phone lands face first on a FLAT surface. On the other hand, if the phone is carried in the clip with the face side in; no worries. This was my second choice of a case but since Otterbox did not make the waterproof armor case for the 3G, this was my next pick and I am very happy with it. It is not the most elegant looking case so if you're the type that likes to brag or announce to perfect strangers that you have a 3G, this is not for you. I recommend an additional scratch skin for the touch screen but, pick your poison since there are so many available. ToughSkin rugged rubberized case sports a distinct, textured pattern that protects your iPhone from accidental bumps and drops without adding bulk or limiting access to buttons and controls.
